‘Racists firebombed my home while I was asleep’
In the new podcast, Brixton: Flames on the Frontline, Farrukh Dhondy (voiced by an actor) shares his story of his home being firebombed by racists while he was asleep.
He said: “Everything was burning, I sat there feeling nothing. The fire chief said: ‘This is no accident you were targeted; it was a firebomb. My home was burned down, someone had tried to kill me.”
Farrukh’s flat was one of five Asian owned properties firebombed across South London that night. The media reported that the bombings were carried out by far-right extremists.
No one has ever been caught for the attack.
The Metropolitan Police said: "This is not the same Met as it was 40 years ago. We have improved how we investigate and respond to crimes.”
“The response to racist crime has been vastly improved and the current Commissioner has been instrumental in enhancing the service we give to London’s black community.”
