BBC Radio Solent in 1998
On New Years Eve 1970, BBC Radio Solent officially went on air for the first time.
Neil Sackley has been going through the archive and discovered this radio station has always brought you the biggest – and more unusual stories.
We were there when the Cherries went to Wembley for the first time.
We were there when HM Queen distributed her Maundy Money in Portsmouth.
We were talking to eye witnesses when a flying boat crashed on Southampton Water.
We were the official radio station when Portsmouth hosted its first International Festival of the Sea.
And 1998 was the year BBC Radio Solent came to your town.
