Xia Leon Sloane: Earthward

In 2018, Xia, at the age of 18, was selected from hundreds of entrants as one of the winners in the Senior category of the annual BBC Young Composer Competition. As part of their prize they received a BBC commission to write a piece for vocal ensemble VOCES8 to perform at the BBC Proms. Earthward received its world premiere at the Cadogan Hall Prom on 22 July 2019, alongside music by Jonathan Dove and other influential choral composers.
