'It could be a risky appointment' - Richardson-Walsh on GB hockey's new coach
Olympic gold medal winning hockey captain Kate Richardson-Walsh says the appointment of Mark Hager as the new coach of the England and GB women's hockey team could be a risky one.
Hager is alleged to have used "bullying tactics" and created a "toxic" atmosphere in his previous role as New Zealand Hockey coach. The findings of an investigation by New Zealand Hockey are yet to be published and the 54-year-old resigned as coach of the Black Sticks before that review was completed.
Richardson-Walsh who retired after winning gold with Team GB at Rio 2016 said "obviously there's question marks over his interaction with players" but added "If I was a player I would be excited to see what he could bring to the table."
