Reading FC: Gomes disappointed following opening defeat

New Royals manager Jose Gomes was hoping for better in his side's 1-0 loss at Millwall.

Reading also had two players sent off in the Boxing Day defeat.

"It was a very difficult match," Gomes told BBC Radio Berkshire's Tim Dellor. "The spirit of my players, they were really brave, they showed a really strong attitude.

"Even with ten players, for a long period of time, we controlled the game."

And Gomes says he's learnt a lot about the Championship already.

"This game has showed us the way and the best decisions that we must take for the future."
