'Why Harry Maguire riding an inflatable unicorn should be on the new £50 note'
Notorious Twitter meme maker, Jonny Sharples, has started a petition to have the image of footballer Harry Maguire riding an inflatable unicorn on the new £50 note.
The petition gained more than 17,000 signatures within two days of being created on Change.org.
Sadly for Sharples, and Maguire, it seems unlikely that the centre-back will feature on the note - the Bank of England states that it avoids "fictional characters, or people who are still living (except the monarch on the front of the note)".
However, Sharpes wasn't deterred by this:
"Harry Maguire represents the core British values that should represent the £50 note. He's brave, he's strong, he has a big head."
The closest competition to Sharples' campaign is a petition to have former UK prime minister, Margaret Thatcher, on the note, which has more than 11,000 signatures at the time of writing.
