Journalist John Percy says Aston Villa lacked a clear identity under the management of Steve Bruce.

Villa sacked the 57-year-old on Wednesday after winning only one of their past nine Championship matches.

Percy says the Midlands club didn’t improve under his leadership and were “boring” to watch.
