England World Cup squad: 'Cahill didn't answer his phone'

England Manager Gareth Southgate has spoken about the moment he told players they had been chosen to play for England.

Southgate told BBC Radio 5 live’s John Murray he had a bet with himself that Chelsea’s Gary Cahill wouldn’t pick up the phone, after he had left him out of the squad in March. He said:

“I left him a message saying ‘look I don’t only call when there’s bad news’”.
