It’s too soon for Rooney to leave – Winter
The Times’ chief football writer Henry Winter thinks Wayne Rooney still has a role to play in the Premier League and a move to Major League Soccer would be premature.
The 32-year-old Everton forward has agreed a deal in principle that would see him join DC United this summer in a £12.5m deal.
Winter believes Rooney’s future also depends on Sam Allardyce staying as Everton manager, as the appointment of a new boss at Goodison Park might persuade England’s all-time top goalscorer to stay.
