‘Fans should never invade the pitch’ – Townsend

Andy Townsend says he has no sympathy for fans if they are charged for the pitch invasion following Wigan’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup.

City striker Sergio Aguero was shown to push a supporter which he claims spat, and swore at him after their fifth round defeat on Monday.

Townsend said it can be an uncomfortable experience for players: “Some might want to shake your hand, one wants to throw a right hander at you.”
