Ezra Furman Session
Ezra Furman returns to the Live Room, with his newly named band The Visions, to play two tunes from new album Transangelic Exodus.
Ezra Furman returns to the 6 Music Live Room, just ahead of the release of his new album Transangelic Exodus.
He describes the album as being "set mostly in a moving car with an angel companion", drawing inspiration from American road trips and "he trash of his own subconscious", with a paranoia borne of the the current political landscape (especially "ascendant white supremacy.")
It was recorded close to a chocolate factory, in Ezra's native Chicago (he reckons the smell of chocolate really influenced the record). And he took a long time, "using the time well", to make the record exactly what he wanted it to be.
Having been baffled by some comparisons that have been written about him (e.g Tom Petty), Ezra name-checks Portishead, Beck and Kanye West's Yeezus (shout out to Kanye!) as core inspiration for his work.
Ezra and his re-named band, The Visions, performs two tracks: Love You So Bad ("an ordinary tale of ordinary people, with three chords") and Suck The Blood from my Wound.
