Chelsea Becker: New York

Chelsea was born in Los Angeles and has lived in England since she was 4. She studies composition at the Purcell School, where she also learns the oboe. Recent performances include a woodwind trio at the Saatchi Gallery and a duo for violin and guitar performed by RCM alumni Joo Yeon Sir and Laura Snowden.

In 2017, Chelsea was selected from hundreds of entrants as one of the winners in the Lower Junior category of the annual BBC Proms Inspire Competition. Her winning piece, New York, was performed by Aurora Orchestra, conducted by Nicholas Collon, at a Proms Extra event at the BBC’s Radio Theatre on 14 August 2017.
