Juliana Niu: A Short Fantasy

Juliana started playing the piano aged 5 and joined the Purcell School at the age of 9. She began formal composition lessons in her second year.

In 2017, Juliana was selected from hundreds of entrants as one of the winners in the Lower Junior category of the annual BBC Proms Inspire Competition. Her winning piece, A Short Fantasy, was performed by John Reid at a Proms Extra event at the BBC’s Radio Theatre on 14 August 2017.
