Rooney to Everton 'could be finalised by weekend'

Wayne Rooney could become an Everton player by this weekend.

The Manchester United forward has been linked with his former club during the summer transfer window, and the BBC's chief football writer Phil McNulty says talks have been ongoing between the player's representative, Paul Stretford, and Everton chairman Bill Kenwright.

"This is now a case of when rather than if with this deal. Some well informed sources have suggested it could be finalised by the weekend.”
