
Hong Kong Marks 20 Years Since Handover to China
The Chinese president is in Hong Kong for the 20th anniversary of return to Chinese rule.
The Chinese President, Xi Jinping, is in Hong Kong for the 20th anniversary of the return of the territory to Chinese rule. He has made clear that his government would not tolerate any challenge to its sovereignty in Hong Kong, reminding people there of the special privileges they enjoy. Also: world leaders have been paying tribute to the late German Chancellor Helmut Kohl at a ceremony at the European Parliament in Strasbourg; and we hear from Canada where they are celebrating the 150th anniversary of its confederation.
