Osman: Betting company to blame, not Barton
Leon Osman believes the betting company used by Joey Barton should have taken more responsibility to stop the Burnley midfielder placing bets.
Barton has been banned from football for 18 months after admitting a Football Association charge in relation to placing 1,260 bets on matches between 2006 and 2016.
The 34-year-old has also been fined £30,000 and warned about his future conduct after being charged with breaking FA rules – and admitted he bet on matches in which he played.
Former Everton midfielder Osman said: "I feel that they [the betting company] are more to blame than anybody else in this predicament. Ten years they've been accepting bets from him.”
