"Cherished, absolutely cherished" - Jane Birkin on the worldwide legacy of Serge Gainsbourg
"When Serge died François Mitterrand wrote: 'We've lost our Apollinaire, our Baudelaire.' Serge changed French songwriting forever." Jane Birkin joins Mark and Stuart to discuss the music of Parisian songwriter, actor and film-maker Serge Gainsbourg and her relationship with him.
Jane previews her forthcoming concert at The Barbican Centre and introduces tracks from her first album in 9 years, which features reinterpretations of Gainsbourg's songs.
Their worldwide hit single Je T'aime... Moi Non Plus was released in 1969, the same year the film Slogan was released - the film which brought Jane and Serge together for the first time.
