President Trump Launches Air Strike on Syria

He said it was in America's interest to prevent the spread and use of chemical weapons

President Donald Trump has said the US military has carried out a cruise missile attack on an airbase from which Syrian government planes staged a suspected chemical weapons attack on a rebel-held town.

Newsday reports live from the French city of Strasbourg as France has been bracing itself for a presidential election in one month's time. The country will then have a new president and, perhaps for the first time, a head of state representing none of the main parties who have held power for decades.

And in South Africa, protesters are expected to march through the streets of many of the cities, later today. They're calling for President Zuma to be ousted.
