UN Warns Russia and Syria Will Be Held Responsible for Actions in Syria

Four year battle for Aleppo drawing to an end, with government forces closing in.

The UN humanitarian advisor on Syria, Jan Egeland, has warned that the Russian and Syrian governments must be held responsible for any atrocities committed by militias loyal to President Bashar al-Assad in Aleppo.

The US President-elect Donald Trump is no stranger to upsetting convention, and he has shown no reluctance to challenge some of the bedrocks of American foreign policy. The biggest target in this area is China, where he has attacked the so-called One China policy.

West African regional leaders are on their way to the Gambia to press for a peaceful handover of power.
