UN Secretary General expresses alarm at reports of atrocities against civilians in Aleppo

The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, has expressed alarm at reports of atrocities against large numbers of civilians in Aleppo as the Syrian army comes close to defeating rebel fighters. The rebels are now trapped in a tiny area under heavy bombardment, along with thousands of civilians.

What does a country do if its currency suddenly plunges in value? Some governments raise interest rates, others try to increase exports. Turkey is attempting a third way, with President Erdogan calling on his loyal followers to exchange US dollars for Turkish lira to shore up a faltering currency.
