Palmyra: IS Retakes Ancient Syrian City
The Islamic State group has retaken Palmyra, despite a fierce Russian air assault.
The Islamic State (IS) group has retaken the Syrian city of Palmyra, hours after Russian air strikes appeared to have driven it back.
The Turkish government has declared a day of mourning after two blasts ripped through the heart of Istanbul following a football match, killing 38 people and wounding 166. The Kurdish militant group TAK has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Just as the world welcomed a democratic transition of power in the Gambia, the outgoing president Yahya Jammeh changed his mind. Having said he accepted defeat, he now says he rejects the result and will contest it in the Supreme Court.
