The Power of Volunteering
Meet four people who have benefitted from the time donated to the #1MillionHours volunteering campaign, and learn how you can make a difference by pledging your time.
A year ago, Radio 1 launched #1MillionHours - our year-long campaign dedicated to getting as many of you as possible to pledge your time to good causes. By volunteering your time to those that need it, you are making a huge difference. And we wanted to show you how, by introducing you to just four people that are benefitting from the time you’ve given.
Barbara is 83 years old, and after the death of her husband and daughter, she is all alone. Thanks to money raised through volunteering, she receives weekly calls from Age UK, that have changed her life immeasurably. Ethan was diagnosed with cancer at 14, and received pioneering treatment in America thanks to Cancer Research UK. It wouldn't have been possible without the support of volunteers.
Isaac was born with Limb/Pelvic Hypoplasia, and has received support from Barnardos since he was a child. Inspired by the voluntary support he has benefitted from all his life, he now mentors young people who need his help.
