Sprinter Sacre was 'peerless' says trainer Henderson

Trainer Nicky Henderson says Sprinter Sacre was 'peerless' and at times, 'unbeatable' after the jump racing star was retired due to a tendon injury.

The 10-year-old, bought as part of a job lot of 22 horses in France by owners Raymond and Caroline Mould that cost a total of 300,000 euros, banked more than £1.1m from 18 wins, nine of them at the sport's highest - Grade One - level.

The total included a rare hat-trick of success at all three of the major spring festivals, at Cheltenham, Aintree and Punchestown in 2013, while his standing in the sport grew after successfully returning from a heart condition.

"He never disappointed, it was just peerless the whole time," said Henderson.

"He was literally unbeatable," he added.
