Goldsmith 'regrets' Heathrow by-election pledge
Richmond-upon-Thames's council leader backed Zac Goldsmith running as an independent candidate and said the Conservative Association is behind behind him.
But Nicholas True, also a Conservative peer, said of the former Tory MP: "I'm sure he regrets having made the commitment."
And he told Daily Politics presenter Andrew Neil: "It may seem odd, it may seem old-fashioned, but here's a politician keeping a promise he made to his electors."
