'MI5 eavesdropped on news of my birth'

Times columnist David Aaronovitch has long known that his Communist parents were under surveillance by the security services.

But the sheer scale of the operation has only now been revealed in the latest release of papers from the National Archives.

He tells Mishal Husain how MI5 spied on his sister in school and noted his birth before his extended family had been told.
