Why does Business Matters only Have Asian and American Guests?
BBC Business Matters’ editor explains why they only invite Asian and American guests. Plus, Mary from Uganda, dislikes how her country is portrayed on Newsday.
Business Matters is a daily programme that was launched three years ago to create a focus on a region The BBC World Service believed needed more eco-nomic and financial coverage: Asia. The live programme goes out at 0100 GMT + 1 - breakfast time in Asia. Programme makers unashamedly only invite guests on from Asia and America, but it’s left one listener feeling a little left out. This week on Over To You, Timothy from Zambia is on the line to ask Business Mat-ters’ Editor, Martin Webber if he’ll consider using African guests as well.
After hearing a comment made about life for women in Uganda by an American author, Mary from Uganda wants to know why Newsday didn’t challenge him.
