
Obama calls off meeting with Philippine leader after 'whore' jibe

In a diplomatic row at the start of the annual South East Asia summit, President Obama has called off what would have been his first meeting with his counterpart from the Philippines. On Monday, Mr Obama became the latest world leader to be targeted by Rodrigo Duterte's insults, as the Philippine president promised to fend off any questioning of his violent campaign against drug-dealers.
The justice minister in Gabon has stepped down, voicing his fears the country may descend into factional violence after the disputed presidential election.
Taiwan has one of the largest fishing industries in the world and each year it sells around US$2 billion worth of seafood worldwide. But the industry faces criticisms of rampant labour and human rights abuses. Our Taipei correspondent Cindy Sui reports on the growing evidence of violence involving Taiwan's large fleet of fishing vessels, which are estimated to employ over 160,000 migrant workers.
