Sir Alex 'influenced' Allardyce appointment - Davies
Former Football Association director David Davies believes Sir Alex Ferguson influenced the appointment of Sam Allardyce as the new England manager, because of his relationship with former Manchester United chief executive David Gill.
Gill, 58, was part of the three-man selection panel who recommended Sam Allardyce's appointment to the FA board. Allardyce is expected to be confirmed as Roy Hodgson's successor on Friday.
"Don't underestimate the influence of Sir Alex Ferguson,” said Davies. “He's always been a Sam Allardyce admirer.”
