French lorry attack on Bastille Day
French lorry attack condemned; President Obama has discussed racial discrimination and the police on national TV; The UN says Female Genital Mutilation is child abuse.
The French interior minister says 80 people were killed when a lorry drove at high speed through a crowd of people celebrating Bastille Day in the city of Nice. In a televised address, President Francois Hollande deplored what he called a terrorist attack and said a state of emergency in France would be extended.
President Obama has discussed the issue of racial discrimination and the police in the US at a meeting broadcast on national television.
The head of the UN Population Fund for the first time calls the practice of Female Genital Mutilation or FGM - child abuse.
