New PM Gives Johnson and Hammond Key Posts

Theresa May appoints new cabinet; Violence in Kashmir; The Pokemon Go craze

Mrs May surprised many with one of her first cabinet appointments, making Boris Johnson foreign secretary. Mr Johnson (the former Mayor of London) was one of the leading campaigners to leave the European Union. After the referendum he was briefly among the favourites to become prime minister. Another Leave campaigner, David Davis has been appointed as the minister in charge of negotiating Britain's exit from the EU. The former foreign secretary, Philip Hammond, has been named as chancellor of the exchequer or finance minister.

Violence is continuing in the Northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It erupted after Burhan Wani, a popular Kashmiri separatist, was killed by security forces on Friday. So far the violence has left more than 30 dead and at least 1 500 injured. Now separatist leaders have called for a general strike on Thursday.

The Pokemon Go game has overtaken twitter in terms of the numbers of users per day. We try to find out why.
