New Prime Minister Promises to Fight for Ordinary Citizens

May's first address as PM; Hollande's expensive hairdresser; Ghanaian boy's surgery

ritain's new prime minister Theresa May has taken office with a pledge that the country will forge a bold new role for itself in the world as it leaves the European Union. And she invoked the full name of her Conservative and Unionist party to defend what she called the 'precious, precious bond' between the nations of the United Kingdom.

France has been mulling over the revelation that the hairdresser responsible for maintaining the head of state's quite ordinary looking head is paid almost 10,000 euros a month.

A three-year-old born with his organs outside his abdomen is to undergo life-saving surgery later thanks to a chance meeting with an English couple. Ethan Suglo, from Ghana, has exomphalos which can be fatal but is routinely treated in the UK.
