Farc Rebels Announce 'Last Day of the War'
Colombia and Farc rebels reach historic ceasefire; Taliban attacks in Afghanistan; Media crackdown in Zambia
"Thursday, June 23rd, we will announce the last day of the war", those few words, tweeted by the commander of the FARC rebel group in Colombia, indicated the end of what has been described as one of the world's longest running civil conflicts.
In Afghanistan attacks against security forces and civil servants appear to have escalated across the country in recent days.
The security forces in Zambia have been using tear gas in a show of force to shut down the operations of an independent newspaper, known as The Post. Reports say the Zambia Revenue Authority claims that the newspaper owes a substantial amount in tax. The newspaper disputes the figures and has taken the Revenue Authority to court.
