Iraq's military has launched an offensive to retake Fallujah, with reports of heavy shelling on the city. Austrian presidential election candidate Norbert Hofer, of the far-right and Eurosceptic Freedom Party, and the former Green Party leader Alexander Van der Bellen, are neck-and-neck. British film director Ken Loach wins second Palme d'Or with anti-austerity film.
