With the rise of the so-called Islamic State and the nuclear deal with Iran, relations between the United States and Saudi Arabia have become increasingly strained. President Barack Obama has been holding private talks in Saudi Arabia with King Salman in a bid to ease these tensions.
The man coordinating international humanitarian efforts in Syria has hailed an operation to evacuate hundreds of people from four besieged Syrian towns.
Events are being held across Britain and elsewhere today to mark Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday.
