Equity release

The number of homeowners using "equity release" to realise some of the increasing value of their properties has risen by a quarter over the past 6 months.

Equity Release is a type of long-term mortgage against your house, where interest builds constantly but isn't paid off until you die or go into long term care.

One point 6 billion pounds of housing wealth was released using this scheme in 2015, and the trend for doing so continues to rise.
