Man Utd fan faces secondary ticketing ‘nightmare’

A Manchester United fan was left in ‘an absolute nightmare’ situation when match tickets bought from online secondary retailer Ticketbis were not what she bargained for.

Precious Efford bought her boyfriend Scott tickets for a Manchester United match from secondary ticketing website, Ticketbis. The tickets, which were season tickets in the name of someone else, did not arrive until lunchtime on the day of the match – by then her partner, who lives in Portsmouth had left for Manchester and wasn’t able to use the tickets.

In the accompanying letter she received Ms Efford was told she ‘wasn’t allowed to speak to any of the stewards or officials’ as ‘they would refuse [her] entry’.

Ms Efford was instructed to send the tickets back to the seller in a pre-paid envelope that never arrived. Furthermore, she was warned that if she did not send the tickets she would be charged a further £150.

A spokesperson from Ticketbis said they act as a platform for sellers and provide guarantees for the transactions to protect both buyers and sellers. They added that they are refunding the money paid by Ms Efford.
