Haçienda nightclub goes classical
Manchester's Haçienda nightclub was instrumental in bringing house music from Chicago to the UK and led to the rise of both rave culture and the Madchester Scene of the late 80s.
Madonna made her first UK appearance in the venue for the Tube TV show, but serious troubles, both with finances and crime, caused the venue to close in 1997.
The music of the club has returned with Hacienda Classical rave anthems, by the likes of A Guy Called Gerald, 808 State and S Express, played by a 70-piece orchestra at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall.
Entertainment correspondent Colin Paterson had access to the final rehearsal.
