Julian Barnes on Shostakovich inspired new novel

Author Julian Barnes is publishing a new novel, The Noise of Time, based around the composer Dimitri Shostakovich.

He spoke to the Today programme's James Naughtie about Shostakovich's struggle with the Soviet state, and issues of freedom and society it raises.
