Newsday is live in Cologne as the city prepares for the first day of carnival – women’s day. The police presence has been doubled in light of attacks against women which took place over New Year. How have those attacks changed attitudes to immigration?

A national strike takes place in Greece today. Unions are protesting against pension reforms, which the government agreed to last year in order to secure over $90 billion of bailout money.
