Syria: Conference to Tackle Humanitarian Crisis

World leaders have gathered at a donors conference in London aimed at tackling the growing humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Syria.

Newsday is live in Cologne as the city prepares for the first day of carnival, which is traditionally women’s day. It is the first major gathering in the city since the mass, supposedly organised, attack on women during New Year's Eve.

El Salvador, like other Latin American countries, has urged women to avoid pregnancy for the time being, as the Zika virus continues to spread. However, Katy Watson reports that it is difficult to follow that advice in a country where abortion is illegal and contraception is not widely available.
