David Gill: It's been a season of underachievement
Former Manchester United chief executive David Gill admitted that Louis van Gaal's team have underachieved so far this season.
Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Southampton was the team's sixth loss of the campaign so far, leaving the 13-time Premier League champions ten points behind current leaders Leicester City.
“Clearly we all hope the results will be better, and everyone’s disappointed. I feel it as much as non-executive director as a fan,” confessed Gill.
“Undoubtedly, it's been a season of underachievement. I think everyone would agree with that given the investment that was made. I know that everyone there - from the owners, Ed [Woodward] and his team, Louis van Gaal and his team - all the staff are working extremely hard to turn that round. It’s not easy," he added.
