China economic figures, Saudi allies slammed, All-white Oscar nominees

The Chinese government will release its GDP figures for the last quarter of 2015 amid fears the figures will be much lower than hoped. After decades of rapid growth, many economists believe, China's economy is in trouble.

The son of the executed Saudi cleric, Nimr al-Nimr, has criticised the United States and Britain for short-term political expediency in their support for the Kingdom.

The American director, Spike Lee is to boycott the Oscars, in protest at a second consecutive all-white list of nominees for the acting awards.
