'I'd better make a trip to Worthing' jokes Andy Murray
Andy Murray has joked he 'better make a trip to Worthing' after the town featured in his acceptance speech after winning the Sports Personality of the Year award.
Murray told the crowd in Belfast his friend had sent him an article which compared his personality with a weekend in the Susex town.
Accepting his award, he said: “A friend send me a message the other day with an article saying ‘Andy Murray is duller than a weekend in Worthing’, which I thought was harsh - on Worthing!”
Speaking afterwards, Murray admitted he'd never been to the town and joked he had 'better' visit Worthing.
The two-time Grand Slam champion took the award ahead of rugby league player Kevin Sinfield and heptathlete Jessica Ennis-Hill.
