Negotiations Continue At Climate Talks
Climate talks still underway; Syrian opposition on Assad; The war in Yemen
Negotiators at the climate change talks in Paris are again working through the night in the hope of reaching a deal later on Friday. The BBC environment analyst says many difficult issues have been partially resolved. But he says differences remain over issues such as compensation for the countries most vulnerable to the effects of global warming.
Syrian opposition groups --meeting in Saudi Arabia-- have agreed to drop a previous demand that President Bashar al-Assad leave office before any negotiations. But they insist he can play no part in a political transition.
The campaign group Amnesty International has accused Saudi Arabia and its allies of deliberately attacking schools in Yemen. It says that since the Saudi-led coalition began conducting air strikes in March, more than a thousand schools have been put out of action.
