Is Burundi Sliding Into Genocide?
Burundi violence; US diplomats in Mali; Tycoons in Africa
The UN's special advisor on the prevention of genocide, Adama Dieng, has accused the Burundian government and opposition of trying to divide the country along ethnic lines. He said the rhetoric was similar to the period that preceded the genocide in neighbouring Rwanda in 1994.
The United States says it has scaled back its diplomatic presence in Mali because of security fears. The US State of Department says it will offer only emergency consular services to American citizens
The anti-corruption watchdog Transparency International says business executives are the most corrupt group in Africa after police officers.
