First Election Results Due Today in Myanmar; new anti-IS alliance; Burundi Killings

The Electoral Commission in Myanmar (the Union Election Commission) has said that it will release the preliminary results of Sunday's election in stages on Monday 9 November. The BBC's Soe Win Than reports on the possible outcome.

There is a new anti-Islamic State alliance in the north-east of Syria. The Syrian Democratic Forces are made up of Kurds, Christians and Arabs, and are receiving weapons and air support from the United States and others. The BBC's Quentin Sommerville spent time with the new alliance near the Syrian city of Hassakah.

Later today the UN Security Council is due to discuss the ongoing political crisis in Burundi, as violence continues to escalate and the UN Secretary General condemned 'inflamatory rhetoric' coming from the country's senate president. Newsday spoke to Willy Nyamitwe, senior advisor to the President of Burundi.
