Afghan Forces Regain Kunduz City after Taliban Attack

Officials say they inflicted heavy casualties; Syria, US, Russia; Violence continues in Burundi

The Afghan government says it has retaken control of the city of Kunduz from the Taliban, three days after the insurgents swept into the city. Sources told the BBC that a night-time offensive by government special forces took just hours to drive out Taliban fighters, who had suffered heavy casualties.
The Russian foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, and the US Secretary of State, John Kerry, have agreed that their countries should coordinate military efforts in Syria to avoid clashes between them. They were speaking at a joint news conference in New York, hours after Russia carried out its first air strikes in Syria.
In Burundi the violence continues with daily reports of dead bodies being found in the street.
And the Swedish pilot who is recreating a journey that was made back in 1929 from Stockholm to Cape town.
