Pepper: The emotional robot joining Japan’s workforce
Peter Allen has spent a few days in Tokyo finding out what's happening at the cutting edge of the robotics world.
On his travels, Peter met Pepper: a so-called "companion robot" that can read human emotions, and has been proving popular in Japan.
Yusuke Abe, a developer at SoftBank robotics, said Pepper's uses ranged from being "a friend in the house," to an office worker or babysitter.
This clip is part of 5 live's Robot Week. The full interview with Pepper's developers will be broadcast on 5 live Daily on Wednesday 16 September 2015.
