Japan PM's Nuclear Plea on Hiroshima 70th Anniversary

70 years on since Hiroshima attack, Malaysia "confirms" MH370 debris link, New Suez Canal.

On 6 August 1945, the world awoke to the news that the United States had dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The blast obliterated the city centre and is estimated to have killed about 140,000 people. On the 70th anniversary, the Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, has made a plea for global nuclear disarmament as people across the country mark the event - our correspondent has more.

Part of the aircraft wing found on Reunion Island is from the missing MH370 airliner, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has confirmed. But the investigators have stopped short of confirming the link, saying only that it is highly likely. Following an investment of some $8.5 billion dollars, Egypt prepares to officially open a major expansion of one of the world's greatest man-made sea routes -- the Suez Canal.
