Operation Stack: 'It's bad for everybody'

Operation Stack - the scheme designed to manage the flow of lorries towards the continent, which was lifted on Sunday - costs Kent an estimated £1.5 million a day when enforced.

Over the weekend, the operation closed three junctions of the M20, forcing traffic onto the much smaller A20, which runs through Sellindge.

Allison Lang, who works at The Duke's Head in the village, said as many as 500 people had been into the pub - mostly to use the toilet.

"The chaos in Calais and France is affecting us and Kent," she said.
